Description
Contrary to what most people believe, root canals relieve discomfort rather than cause it. Dr. Watson explains how we use cutting-edge 3D scans, anesthesia, and sedation for incredibly precise, safe, and comfortable care. We can often complete the entire procedure in one visit with same-day crowns that we mill in the office.

A root canal is a procedure that we do in our office when someone has an infected tooth, basically. That could be from trauma, it could be from decay, it could be from fractures inside the tooth.

What we do to treat that tooth is we remove the source of the infection, which is the blood supply or the nerve tissue, the pulp. Then we go back into the tooth and clean, shape, remove any bacteria or irritants, and then we're able to seal the space with a sealing filling material.

Typically, we can do that in one visit, which is amazing. We also use our CT technology, cone beam, to really be able to see right inside the tooth, so it's predictable. We make sure that the patient is 110% numb before we do anything, and it's a comfortable procedure.

The benefit to having a root canal done in our office is we are able to really complete the root canal and the restoration here, and possibly, most of the time, all in one day. Because we have our own mill here at Atlanta West, we're able to fabricate the crown and permanently cement it same day.

Root canals typically get a bad rep. I know that, but actually the procedure quite painless. What you can expect after a root canal is actually a quite pleasant experience.
