Did another dentist provide a treatment plan or price quote that you'd like a different opinion on? We are more than happy to oblige, and at no cost to you. You can call us or send us a message at any time.

What Are Dental Implants?

An implant is a titanium or zirconia post that acts as an artificial tooth root to support custom restorations such as dentures, dental crowns, and dental bridges. Implants not only offer superior stability, but they also provide the jaw with the stimulation it needs to remain healthy. They are the only restorative dentistry procedure that can stop and prevent the jawbone deterioration that can occur with tooth loss.

In this example, a single missing tooth is replaced using a titanium implant, an abutment, and a dental crown. The abutment is a connector piece that allows your dentist to secure your denture, bridge, or crown to the dental implant.

Benefits of Dental Implants

Restored Function

Even one missing tooth can make chewing and talking difficult. Dental implants help fill in the gap to restore your oral function.

Superior Stability

Traditional dentures rely on messy adhesives to remain in place. Even then, there is a risk of slippage. Implant-supported dentures are secured directly to the implants. There is no need for adhesives and no risk of slippage.

Better Jawbone Health

Jawbone deterioration can lead to a sunken facial appearance, further tooth loss, and more. Implants provide the jaw with the stimulation it needs to stay healthy and prevent atrophy.

More Attractive Appearance

Patients with tooth loss often report feeling embarrassed with their smiles. Dental implants paired with a custom restoration can give you the stunning smile you have dreamed of.

Replace Missing Teeth With Durable Dental Implants

Here, Dr. Shepperd explains why dental implants are the preferred solution to tooth loss. He has placed and restored (meaning the surgical placement of the implants and attachment of a crown, bridge, or denture) more than 2,500 implants. By incorporating platelet-rich fibrin and other advanced methods, the Atlanta West Dentistry team ensures the procedure is as safe, comfortable, and effective as possible.

Missing Most of Your Teeth?

Consider All-on-4 Dental Implants

With the advanced All-on-4® method, patients with complete tooth loss can receive a new smile in just one day.

Tooth loss is often followed by bone loss. Traditionally, patients with bone loss often required preparatory bone grafting before qualifying for implant-supported dentures. That's no longer the case, thanks to All-on-4.

Using the All-on-4 method, your dentist can place a denture using just four strategically positioned dental implants along an arch. Two of these implants are inserted at an angle to maximize your existing bone material. All-on-4 dentures can often be placed on the same day as implant surgery, so patients don't need to wait for their new smile.

Dental Implant Patient Testimonial

Tedra had a lot of problems with her teeth. She couldn't eat, she's in pain, but Atlanta West Dentistry have helped her and treat her problems, that changes her life immensely. At Atlanta West Dentistry, we offer comprehensive cosmetic dentistry, restorative options, oral surgery services & more.

Bone Grafts and Sinus Lifts Improve Your Candidacy With Preparatory Dentistry

A bone graft or sinus lift can renew the possibilities of dental implants for you if you've experienced jawbone atrophy. We perform these treatments in-house, as well as any other necessary prep work, like gentle extractions or gum treatment. Your jaw density and need for a graft or lift will be determined during your free consultation. Take a look at how these procedures work:

Bone Grafting

During this treatment, your Marietta dentist will access areas of the lower jaw affected by atrophy and strengthen them with natural tissue or a synthetic bone material. This material will integrate with your natural jaw tissue to make a stable base for a dental implant.

Sinus Lifts

To perform a sinus lift, our Marietta team will use natural or synthetic material to bolster the upper jaw, instead. They will carefully lift the floor of your maxillary sinus to safely create space for the grafting material, then place it so it can integrate with your own tissue.

Tooth Loss: A Temporary Problem With a Permanent Solution

Did you know that, once placed in your jaw, your dental implants can last your entire life? While even premium restorations will need to be replaced after 15 years or so, the foundation of your smile can stay soundly in place forever.

It's easy to upgrade to a new crown, bridge, or denture when the time comes, too. Our dentists can use the scans and designs from your previous visits to our Marietta, GA, dental office to guide the fabrication of an identical, but refreshed, restoration. Having it placed is a quick and painless process that takes one appointment, and you'll then be able to continue enjoying your fully functional smile for years to come.

Investing in dental implants now can save you time on dentistry down the line and buy you peace of mind for a lifetime. Interested in going from an incomplete smile to a fully functional set of teeth you can treat just like the real thing? Our Marietta dentists are waiting to hear from you. Get in touch online or give us a call to set up your free dental implant consultation.

We handle it all, from a single implant and crown to complex full mouth reconstruction. No matter the state your smile is in today, rest assured that we can help you achieve a result you'll love.

Consultation

During your initial consultation at our Marietta, GA, dental office, your dentist will examine your mouth and discuss your history and goals to determine if dental implants are right for you. We'll take digital X-rays and also use our advanced CBCT scanner for 3D imaging. This ensures an incredible level of precision during treatment planning.

Anesthetic

Before your implant procedure begins, your dentist will thoroughly numb the area. We also offer sedation dentistry to help ensure you are completely comfortable during your treatment.

Implant Placement

Your dentist will make a small incision in the gums before inserting the titanium or zirconia implant. If you have a single missing tooth, one implant is used. Two to eight implant posts are needed per arch if you require a bridge or dentures.

Healing

Over the next several months, you will be given time to heal. This allows the implants to fuse to the jawbone in a process called osseointegration.

Some treatments, such as All-on-4 implants, may allow for the immediate placement of a temporary restoration right after surgery.

Abutment Placement

Once you are healed, you will have another appointment to allow your dentist to place the abutments. These connector pieces attach your restoration to the implants. After the abutments are placed, you will have a second healing period lasting a few weeks.

Restoration

Next, you will return to our Marietta dental practice for your restoration placement. Your dentist will secure your denture, crown, or bridge and ensure proper fit and comfort. Your restoration will look, feel, and function just like your natural teeth.

Now, all that's left to do is enjoy your new smile.

How Much Do Dental Implants Cost?

Our Marietta, GA, dental practice charges between $6,000 and $7,000 for a dental implant, abutment, and implant-supported crown. Prices vary depending on factors like preparatory dentistry and sedation, and more complex care plans will carry additional fees. The cost of All-on-4 implants varies from traditional implant dentistry as well.

We can provide a personalized quote for your dental implants after assessing your smile during a free consultation.

If you've received a quote for dental implants from another dentist and want a second opinion, we'll also be happy to provide that for free.

Concerned About Costs? We accept financing options

While we do accept most dental insurance, dental implant costs are often not covered. However, your plan may cover other parts of treatment, like the restoration. We will verify your coverage to maximize your benefits.

To help cover other expenses or to help if you do not have dental insurance, we accept CareCredit®, Sunbit, and Proceed financing. This allows patients to break the cost of their treatment into affordable monthly payments. We also offer an in-house dental saving plan that includes a discount on needed treatments.

Your Sedation Options For a Worry-Free Experience

If you've been feeling nervous about getting dental implants for fear of pain, we have good news to share. Dental implant placement isn't very uncomfortable at all, especially after your dentist thoroughly applies local anesthesia. Many patients say it's comparable to having a tooth extracted. Still, if you have dental anxiety or especially sensitive teeth and gums, you might be looking for a little more reassurance for your comfort. That's where our dental sedation options come in:

Nitrous Oxide Sedation

Nitrous oxide, or laughing gas, is the lightest form of sedation we offer. It's administered through a nosepiece and takes effect quickly. You'll be relaxed but remain alert throughout the procedure, and you'll be able to drive yourself home afterwards, as nitrous oxide wears off fast.

The Wand

Unlike many other dentists, we use the Wand®–a penlike computer-assisted anesthetic delivery system. It administers local anesthetic without painful needles, and much more precisely. Your dentist can control the flow of medication to ensure comfort in every stage.

Oral Conscious Sedation

Oral conscious sedation is administered in the form of a pill taken about an hour before surgery. It will deeply relax you, and you may even fall into a "twilight sleep" while in the dentist's chair. This is a moderate level of sedation, so you'll need someone to drive you home afterward.

IV Sedation

The strongest form of sedation we offer, IV sedation is administered through an intravenous line in the arm. It takes effect very quickly and will likely leave you with little to no memory of the procedure. IV sedation takes more time to wear off, so you'll need an escort from our office.

Talking Technology How Our Tools Improve the Dental Implant Experience

Dr. Travis Watson and Dr. Cameron Watson sit down to explain some of our favorite cutting-edge tools to make the treatment experience that much more efficient and enjoyable. For dental implant patients, we use technology like 3D CBCT scanning for no-mess impressions and precise treatment planning. Our CEREC® technology and 3D printer allow us to create implant-supported restorations right here at our Marietta office–weeks quicker than an outside lab could provide.

A Patient's Take on Our Advanced Technology

"Dr Watson and his team do an outstanding job. They're up on the latest technologies, which makes for an excellent experience. Because they have their own lab, they were able to make a crown for me the same day that I went in with the issue. Everybody there is nice to work with. I'm glad I made the switch to Dr Watson's office several years ago. It's been nothing but a pleasure every time I go." Sean P., 5-Star Google Review

What Do You Use To Make Restorations?

/

We create crowns, bridges, and dentures from high-grade materials like porcelain, IPS e.max® (a durable type of pressed ceramic), and Lava™ Premium zirconia. These materials are carefully selected for their toothlike durability and semitranslucent look. This means they absorb and reflect light in the same way natural teeth do, so your new smile will have none of that obvious "one-tone" artificial look. Our Marietta dentists will shade-match your restorations to the natural shade of your surrounding teeth for even more subtle results.

Highly Successful Treatment
From Expertly Trained Specialists

As with any surgery, there are a few risks associated with dental implant placement, like bleeding, infection, and implant failure, but you should know that they are incredibly low. Dental implants have been the industry standard for restoring smiles for decades now, and there are scores of studies that demonstrate the long-term success of this treatment.

According to the American Academy of Implant Dentistry, dental implants have a 95% success rate.

Your smile is even safer in the hands of experienced implant dentists, like the ones at Atlanta West Dentistry in Marietta. Dr. Benjamin Shepperd, for example, has vast experience in using our cutting-edge technologies to plan and perform treatment for especially complex cases.
