Losing one or two teeth is difficult. Losing three or four teeth is problematic but manageable with dental bridges and partial dentures.
But what happens when you lose a complete arch of teeth? You have to change your eating habits completely. Soft foods are always on the menu.
That is, unless you come to Atlanta West Dentistry in Marietta for our restorative dental services, including Teeth. That’s right, in one day, you can enter our office without any teeth, and leave with a set of replacements that allow you to start eating all the foods you love once again.
Plus, we are pretty confident that you will feel more confident, too.
It may be hard to believe, but most adults are missing teeth, according to data from the National Institute of Dental Craniofacial Research.
More than 10 percent of Americans between the ages of 50 and 64 have none of their remaining teeth. Many of them have turned to dentures to get back some of what they’ve lost.
Dentures will give you the appearance of a full set of teeth. They will allow you to eat many foods that you couldn’t, although you won’t have the same bite force you did when you had natural teeth.
Dentures also can come loose when you are eating or talking. This may be amusing, annoying, or a little of both. You can use adhesives to hold your dentures in place, but this may interfere with the taste of your food.
Dentures are better than no teeth at all, but is there a better option? We believe there is, which is why we offer TeethXpress for our patients.
Our TeethXpress options start with dental implants, one of the best innovations in modern dentistry.
Replacement teeth are nothing new. Scientists have found evidence that ancient civilizations replaced missing teeth with ivory, animal bones, and animal teeth. More recently, humans have used teeth taken from dead soldiers, metal, and porcelain to replace teeth.
In many of these cases, however, the replacement options sat atop the gums and were anchored to the wearers remaining natural teeth.
Dental implants are a more recent innovation in restorative dentistry. Dental implants are titanium cylinders that replace the roots of your teeth.
Through a process known as osseointegration, your jawbone will bond directly to your dental implants. This will hold them securely in place, just like your real teeth.
And that allows you a new world of tooth replacement options, whether you need one tooth, multiple teeth or a complete arch of teeth.
Thanks to the continuing improvements in dental technology, we can do something today that wouldn’t have been possible decades ago. We can bring into our office, and in about one hour, we can restore the appearance of a full set of functioning teeth to your mouth.
Digital technology allows us to better plan the placement of a set of dental implants to provide the maximum support for a set of implant-secured dentures.
While we would love to be able to offer this for any patient, we do have to make sure you have sufficient bone density to support these dental implants.
After these implants are a placed, it will take three to six months for the osseointegration process to be completed. When that process is complete, you will be closer to your original bite force than you could ever imagine is possible adhesive-secured dentures.
For patients who don’t quality for our TeethXpress, we have other options that are just as beneficial, even if they do take a little more time.
All-on-4 dental implants are dentures that are held in place by four strategically placed implants. These provide you with tremendous bite force, along with plenty of reasons to smile.
All-on-6 dental implants are just like the All-on-4 except with six implants placed in your mouth.
You can’t go wrong with any of these restorative dentistry options, and if you wear dentures now, you will feel the difference once they are placed in your mouth.
Is there a better gift to give yourself than an improved quality of life? We like milk shakes and mashed potatoes, but sometimes we like eating steak, chicken, and apples, too.
With TeethXpress, All-on-4, and All-on-6 dental implant placements, we can give you back the ability to eat any food that you enjoy. Call us today at (770) 635-5336 to learn more about any of our restorative dentistry options, or fill out our online form to make an appointment.
