Another year has come and gone, and it’s time to make your 2017 new year’s resolutions. When you are making your plans to be healthier, we hope you will include visiting our dentists in Marietta, GA, on your list. Your oral health is important in its own right and as part of your overall health.
We know there are many reasons you may not have been to see any dentist for years, and that’s OK. What we want to do is help you make general dentistry can become a regular part of your life. That’s part of the reason we offer dental sedation at our practice.
The members of our team look forward to meeting new patients. We would love to have you as part of what we consider our Atlanta West Dentistry family.
You can start with a consultation with one of our dentists. All you have to do is talk during that meeting. It will give you a chance to learn more about us and our approach to dental care.
Stop Pain With Dental Sedation
We want you to know that we are used to seeing patients who are anxious or fearful about dental care. One of the most common concerns we hear is that people are worried that their treatment will hurt.
That’s understandable. It’s almost important for you to know that we will do everything we can to keep you comfortable throughout your visit, whether you are getting a cleaning, a gum disease treatment, or another procedure.
Sedation dentistry is just one part of this. Technology has changed many aspects of dentistry for the better. We can perform many procedures today with little or no pain at all even without sedation.
With that in mind, we do offer three sedation options. Nitrous oxide (laughing gas) is inhaled through a mask. Oral sedation involves taking a pill prior to your appointment. IV sedation is used less frequently, but it is great for patients going through longer, more complicated procedures.
All three kinds of dental sedation have an analgesic effect. In other words, you won’t feel any pain while you are under the effects of our dental sedation options.
Our dentists will be happy to answer any questions you have about each kind of sedation, so you can pick the one that will work best for you. Just call 770-744-4619 to set up a consultation.
You Won’t Gag With Dental Sedation
We know that gagging is a concern for many patients as well. If we are being honest, we don’t want you to gag either while we are cleaning your teeth.
It’s also a fact that some people gag more easily than others. If you are someone with a hyperactive gag reflex, we can see why coming to a dentist office would be a source of anxiety.
The good news is that sedation dentistry can help you, too. When you are sedated, you are more relaxed. That makes is much less likely that you will gag. Knowing this can make dental cleanings and examinations much easier to handle for everyone involved.
That also means you can get the oral care you need to keep your mouth healthy for years and years to come.
Everyone at Atlanta West Dentistry wants your dental visits to be as pleasant as possible. Sedation dentistry can go a long way toward helping you feel more comfortable sitting down in one of our chairs.
Let Your Anxiety Fade Away With Dental Sedation
Sometimes patients can identify the source of their dental anxiety (like pain or gagging), and other times people have a more general anxiety about the dentist office. You may have had a bad experience when you were younger, which can make visiting a dentist uncomfortable.
We hope you will remember that everyone at Atlanta West Dentistry is on your side. We want to help you get the dental care that you need and deserve. Our compassionate staff will help you feel supported throughout your visit.
Nevertheless, you may prefer to remember as little as possible about your actual dental treatment. You probably won’t be surprised to learn that sedation dentistry can help with that, too.
While you are sedated, you are unlikely to remember much if anything about your treatment. If you know this going into your treatment, it can be much easier to make your next appointment.
Take It One Step At A Time
Before you call, keep in mind that your dental anxiety is not going to disappear overnight. It probably won’t go away after a single visit either.
However, you can learn to manage that anxiety one visit at a time. Our team at Atlanta West Dentistry understands this, and we will be here to support you each step of the way.
