Imagine getting season tickets to see the Falcons play at home. You’ve saved money all year to get the tickets. You keep them in a drawer and on the day of their home opener … you also stay at home.
The next game comes … and you don’t go to that one, either. This continues throughout the year. By the end of the season, you’ve got a set of unused tickets even though you paid for them.
Most of us would not do that … and yet, we know there are people who are essentially doing the same thing with their dental care. A little comes out of each paycheck for dental insurance, but they never get the dental checkups that they have already paid for.
At our Marietta, GA office, we would hate for you to lose your smile over something that could have been prevented with a professional cleaning or identified during an exam.
You’ve still got time to put your dental coverage to use. Call 770-744-4619 today to schedule a visit to Atlanta West Dentistry before the end of the year.
** Please keep in mind that the specifics of dental insurance plans can vary greatly. Please consult your plan for details about what is and isn’t covered under your policy. **
Get What You’re Paying For
Dental benefits expire at the end of each cycle. (Many plans’ cycles coincide with the calendar year.)
The benefits that are covered often focus on encouraging preventive care. We can’t speak for every plan, but many of these plans we’ve dealt with include routine cleanings and exams.
If you don’t come in for these cleanings, it’s sort of like paying for tickets but never using them. Admittedly a dental cleaning might not be as exciting as a football game, but we do our part to make it as enjoyable as possible for our patients.
When you miss a routine cleaning, you can’t just make it up later. Instead, you are giving bacteria more time to cause damage to your teeth and gums. That also makes it more likely that any infection that you may have will be more advanced when you do return to see us.
We would prefer to see you today, so you can avoid the bigger problems tomorrow.
Be Proactive About Your Oral Health
You can take charge of your oral health. This starts by being consistent about your daily hygiene (brushing and flossing), but it also should include regular checkups.
Some insurance plans will cover part of the cost of more expensive procedures. Regardless, your smile and your bank account will be better off if you are proactive about your oral health.
If you don’t have dental insurance, we are happy to help you, too. We have created an in-house dental savings plan. This can help you more easily manage the costs of preventive care.
Our plan includes a cleaning every six months, 1 or 2 exams annually, digital X-rays, 1 emergency exam, and 10 percent off treatments.
