How would you like to see into the future? We can help, although our ability is someone limited.
If you have misaligned teeth, we can show you what they will look when you complete your treatment with Invisalign.
Our own Dr. Cameron Watson is an Invisalign® Preferred Provider based on her experience and her success in using this orthodontic alternative to braces. Today, we will explain how our team at Atlanta West Dentistry uses this option, and we will tell you a little about Dr. Cameron Watson, too.
If you live in or near Marietta, GA, we encourage you to keep reading or to visit us to learn if Invisalign may be right for you.
The way we can see your future — OK, one part of your future — is with the Invisalign Outcome Simulator.
We start by scanning your teeth. These digital impressions are fed into a computer.
With the outcome simulator, we can display what your teeth look like today and how they will look at the end of your treatment.
For many patients, this is an encouraging step to let them know that yes, they can have the smile they have always wanted.
And they don’t have to wear braces to get it.
Invisalign treatment starts with a visit to our office. The first thing we do is determine if Invisalign will work for your misalignment issues.
While it won’t work on every problem, it can work on many things, including:
If you can use Invisalign, we will place an order for a series of the plastic aligners for your to wear. The aligners are clear, and most people you interact with will never realize you are wearing them during your daily activities.
Try doing that with braces. When you have metal brackets and wires attached to your teeth, it’s not like you can pretend they aren’t there.
You will wear each aligner for a few weeks, and you will switch aligners as needed to keep your teeth moving in the right direction.
You should wear the aligners for at least 22 hours per day for optimal results. This begs the question: what should you do during the other two hours of the day?
First and foremost, you can eat. Frankly, this is one of Invisalign’s big advantages over other orthodontic treatments.
Since you can remove the aligners, you really can anything that you like to eat. You don’t need to worry about food pieces getting stuck in your braces or, worse, causing your wires to bend or break.
After you eat, remember to brush your teeth. You would need to do this will braces, too. The difference is with braces, you may have to learn some new techniques and how to use some new tools to make sure no food is caught.
We also need to mention on of the other benefits of Invisalign. It will save time compared to braces.
Traditional braces can take around two years to move your teeth. This is partly due to how braces work by moving your teeth in stages (first your crowns, then your roots). Each stage takes about a year.
With Invisalign, most patients can complete their treatment in about a year (provided they wear their aligners like they should).
Earlier, we mentioned that our own Dr. Cameron Watson is a Preferred Provider for Invisalign.
What does this mean to you? It means you can trust her guidance before, during, and after your Invisalign treatment.
You can feel confident that she has experience with the aligners, and it shows in her patients” smiles. You can see some examples by scrolling through our smile gallery.
After graduating from McEachern High School, Dr. Watson studied at the University of Georgia and earned her DMD from the Medical College of Georgia School of Dentistry.
She also completed continuing education with the American Orthodontic Society and the Aligntech Institute. She has used that knowledge to help our patients through Invisalign treatments.
