It’s a running joke in many movies and televisions shows for a character to declare that he or she is “too old” for something. You may think that about orthodontic treatment if your teeth are not as straight as you would like.
In this case, we think you will be happy to learn that you are wrong. You can straighten your healthy permanent teeth at any age.
And Invisalign® may be just the way to do it. You can learn more about this alternative to braces at our dentist office in Marietta, GA.
At Atlanta West Dentistry, you will be examined by doctors with experience and expertise with Invisalign. In about 12 months, you could be looking at a completely different smile in the mirror.

Invisalign was developed with adults in mind. Many adults have mild to moderate alignment issues. These can include crooked teeth, crowded teeth, and teeth with gaps between them. You also many have bite alignment issues such as an overbite or underbite.
Where braces use brackets and wires to push and pull your teeth, Invisalign gently pushes your teeth with a series of plastic aligners. The user replaces his or her aligner every few weeks with a new one.
The aligners are custom-made for each patient. When used correctly, the aligners will keep moving your teeth a little bit at a time until they reach their final straight position.
Invisalign has some advantages over braces that many of our adult patients appreciate.
For starters, the plastic aligners are clear. When they are placed over your teeth, they blend in with your smile. This makes them far more discreet than metal braces.
Adults also like that Invisalign can save time. Invisalign patients can often complete their orthodontic in about one year. Braces can take two years or more.
Last but not least, Invisalign aligners can be removed during meals and daily oral hygiene. You need to wear the aligners most of the time, but you can take them out to eat and to brush and floss your teeth.
Some of our patients had braces when they were teenagers. They have noticed that their teeth are starting to move back to their original positions.
You may be wondering why this happens. It’s called drifting.
This sometimes happens when patients do not wear the retainers as they should. This is usually the final step in orthodontic treatment.
Even if you did everything you were supposed to do, sometimes your teeth will start to move again years or decades later.
Invisalign can be used to stop the drifting and to move your teeth back where you want them to be. Many patients who remember wearing braces often see Invisalign as a more comfortable and more convenient option.
The team at our Marietta, GA, dentist office has seen how Invisalign has helped many patients over the years.
This is in part due to the expertise of our own Dr. Cameron Watson. She is a graduate of the University of Georgia and the Medical College of Georgia School of Dentistry.
As part of her continuing education, she had completed training at the American Orthodontic Society and the Aligntech Institute. She was even featured on 11Alive because of her knowledge and success with Invisalign.
One of the reasons we like Invisalign is that you can have an idea what you smile will look like before your treatment begins.
We can make impressions and photos to establish the current condition of your teeth. This can be used to create a 3D image of your smile. Using computer software, we can show you how your teeth will be moved.
This helps you know what to expect before your treatment starts.
When your aligners are ready, we will explain how long to wear them, when to change aligners, and how to keep them clean.
From a cosmetic standpoint, straight teeth make your smile look nicer. From a health standpoint, straight teeth are easier to clean.
If your smile is not as straight as you would like them to be, please contact Atlanta West Dentistry.
