For any person who’s looking around to find a dentist, the important things to ask are the experience of clinician and how does the process work in that specific office. It’s also important to understand that the clinician who would be potentially placing and/or restoring the implant, what is their education history. Because a lot of dentists who are passionate about dental implants, whether they be general dentist, periodontist, oral surgeons, have acquired postgraduate education in some degree. Personally, I was able to go through training at a residency in Birmingham, Alabama, in 2002, 2003, and that sorta set the stage for me in learning how to handle complex situations and be able to place and restore implants comfortably. It’s been 15 years, and I feel like … now that I’ve placed several hundred, I feel like I’m in the, we feel like we can efficiently help people through that process.

A dental implant to replace a single tooth can range anywhere from $3,000 to $5,000, and so it comes with a wide range of fees. I would advise people who are looking for someone who would place an implant is, if you see an outrageously low fee, it’s important to ask the questions such as the experience of the clinician and how the process works. It’s important for the patients to understand what’s involved also in that fee. Whether there’s bone graphs and extractions involved in that fee, those are important questions to ask. I would encourage anyone who’s looking for someone or to have a dental implant placed to visit the office who you are looking at. Just so you can really get a chance to meet the doctor and understand their philosophy and how their system works.

  • Q: Are Dental Implants Necessary?

In cases where a patient is about to lose a tooth or have a situation that is terminal for a specific tooth, or they have lost teeth in the past and not replaced those missing teeth, the consequences can be multiple. There are problems such as teeth shifting, bone deterioration, gum problems, TMJ problems that happen sometimes months, sometimes years after the extraction process has taken place. The other negative aspect to not replacing missing teeth is that it affects the bone structure significantly. So when patients lose a tooth, within two years they lose 60 percent of the bone volume that was in that location, which is actually a pretty staggering number.

So we try to help patients understand that, especially in the extraction process, to understand what their goals are in the near future or in the long-term future, because it’s important to think about that potential for an implant early on after an extraction. One of the most important things that we tell our patients as they’re considering an implant is that when implants are placed, the bone actually maintains its volume, just like a tooth root does. So it’s basically a scaffold for the bone to stay where it is. So that can really be advantageous for anyone who doesn’t want the shrunken-in facial look, because it really can, after a few years, start to affect the way you look and your profile. So, obviously that brings in a lot of cosmetic decisions for the patient.

  • Q: How Can I Get A Straight Smile Quickly?
    A:

We offer two ways to get a straight, beautiful smile quickly. Our short-term orthodontic option, Invisalign, takes only about 12 months on average to complete treatment and allows for comfortable, convenient, nearly invisible care. Invisalign is great for busy professionals or hard-working students who want to keep their orthodontic care to themselves and don’t want to spend two or three years in metal braces.

We also offer beautiful, minimal-prep veneers. Dental veneers do not physically move your teeth, but they can be placed on your teeth to create the appearance of straight, beautiful teeth. Veneers are long-lasting, making them a great option for “instant orthodontics.”

  • Q: What Are The Benefits Of Dental Implants?
